Wenonah's Waters
The Missisippi River near Winona is a Maze of channels, islands, and bays. It is unlike most rivers or lakes, and perhaps most resembles a bayou.
Although a major waterway, most of the river here is little used, and much is accessible only by canoe. Wildlife, fishing, and primative camping abound in vast areas with few signs of civilization. You may be within a mile of Winona and see no sign of it.
In addition, there are many fine smaller rivers.
A trip guide with maps is available free from the Winona Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
