18' 6" Odyssey (Retired)

Our fastest marathon whitewater racer, yet with good tripping characteristics. A must for the experienced whitewater racer. The best big water touring canoe around.

Hull Features

  1. Reinforced bow point sustains frontal impacts providing enhanced protection in dangerous waters.
  2. Outward-flared gunwales near the bow deflects spray. In Aramid with wood gunwales, there is some hour-glass contour in the gunwale line for paddling ease.
  3. An "asymetrical" hull with more fulness behind the centerline than in front of it. This counters the stern's natural tendency to ride deeper than the bow in shallow water.
  4. Standard trim is of the highest, aircraft grade, marine anodized 6016-T6 aluminum.
  5. High sides (13 1/2") to achieve exceptional volume and dryness.
  6. Hull widens quickly from the bow back, providing a very stable canoe with very high capacity; but the hull is carefully shaped to part water, gently not violently.
  7. A high bow (20") protects paddlers and gear from waves even when heavily loaded.
  8. A graceful bow curve that helps lift and guide the hull over obstructions.
  9. Very slight rocker enhances maneuverability without sacrificing tracking speed or paddling ease.
  10. The broad-bottomed, shallow-arched hull retains good fulness throughout the length of the canoe ensuring excellent initial and final stability.
