18'6" Whitewater X (Retired)

Our highest capacity, most seaworthy hull, yet fast for its size. Very specialized for long trips or rough water. Safe enough for beginners, but usually preferred by experts.

Hull Features

  1. A blunt, reinforced bow point sustains frontal impacts providing enhanced protection in dangerous waters.
  2. Outward-flared gunwales near the bow deflects spray. In Aramid with wood gunwales there is some hour glass contour in the gunwale line for paddling ease.
  3. An "asymetrical" hull with more fulness behind the centerline than in front of it. This counters the sterns natural tendency to ride deeper than the bow in shallow water.
  4. Standard trim is of the highest, aircraft grade, marine anodized 6061-T6 aluminum.
  5. High sides (16") to achieve exceptional volume and dryness.
  6. Hull widens quickly from the bow back, providing a very stable canoe with very high capacity; but the hull is carefully shaped to part water gently, not violently.
  7. A high bow (22") protects paddlers and gear from large waves even when heavily loaded.
  8. A graceful bow curve that helps lift and guide over obstructions.
  9. Ver slight rocker enhances maneuverability without sacrificing tracking, speed or paddling ease.
  10. The broad-bottomed, shallow-arched hull retains good fulness throughout the length of the canoe ensuring excellent initial and final stability.
